On the northern outskirts of Paris, where housing projects rise out of fields, Adja, 18, burns with the desire to live intensely. While her brother breaks out as a pro soccer player, her best friend blows up as an influencer on social media, and her mother struggles to save her flood-damaged house in her hometown in Senegal, Adja has only a blurred vision of her future. When she gets to know Arthur, who fights for climate justice and lives in a self-sufficient community nearby, her political awareness awakens and she joins his fight for the future of their generation.
L’horizont is not only a lively coming-of-age and love story, but also shows how much more the fight for climate justice demands of less privileged young people, who will feel the consequences of the climate catastrophe all the more. An optimistic film with stirring images and the fifth film at Favourites Film Festival with Elin Kirschfink as director of photography.
