German actress in search of traces in Iran
German actress Maryam Zaree, known for her roles in Systemsprenger , Tatort and 4 Blocks , was born in Evin Prison in Tehran in 1983, one of the most notorious political prisons in the world. Her parents fled to Germany years ago from the regime of Ayatollah Khomeini, who after the seizure of power arrested and tortured tens of thousands of political opponents. They never spoke about the circumstances of their escape and the time of their detention. The memories are too painful, the fact that the perpetrators are still in power with impunity is too unbelievable.
In her very personal documentary, in which Maryam Zaree is both a narrator and a protagonist, she breaks the silence and goes in search of the violent circumstances of her birth. A film that encourages you to deal with your own past and ask uncomfortable questions.
