Moderner Familienwahnsinn in São Paulo
Rosa is in her late thirties, wife to her husband Dado, lover to her friend Pedro, mother of two girls, and daughter of divorced parents. Her husband is an ethnologist, specialized in indiginous Amazon tribes, and therefore travels a lot. Rosa, on the other hand, has given up her dream of becoming a successful playwright, as she, instead, pays the family maintenance by writing advertisement texts for bathroom furnishings and additionally has to support her free-spirited father, Homero.
When her mother unexpectedly announces that Homero is not her biological father at a family dinner, Rosa’s life is turned upside down. Worn down between entangled family structures and many-sided expectations, Rosa tries to live up to her own standards as a self-determined woman.
Just Like Our Parents is a life-caught portrait of three generations in São Paulo and a vivid reflection of role-models without moralizing forefingers.
